Are Crossfit and F45 in Melbourne right for you?

Crossfit claims to be the “sport of fitness”, and F45 states it's a "revolutionary training system" but are they right for you? With both of these programs exploding around the world and a number of venues in Melbourne opening up, you may be wondering what each can offer you. Extremely similar in their approach to fitness, F45 and Crossfit emphasise high intensity and dynamic training in order to provide results fast.

Available to everyone…
Although Crossfit and F45 are available to everyone, that doesn’t mean that its intensive program is right for your fitness goals/needs. A team environment is also built into each programs' core values, so if you perform better when everyone else is, then this could be the path for you. Exercises are scaled by ability, and can be slightly altered in Crossfit but for the most part and in F45, you will be doing the exact same as everyone else each time you attend. Some love the camaraderie and feeling of inclusion that these programs offer, and can often be the difference between giving up or not letting people down!

But not necessarily suitable for everyone
If pushing yourself to the absolute maximum limit sounds wholly unappealing, then Crossfit and F45 are unlikely to be the right fit. If you're more of a lone wolf type when it comes to working out, it's likely that neither of these programs will become your new favourite pastime. Furthermore, if you’ve never lifted weights before than it’s possible that both systems won't be perfect, as they focus on completing workouts in the shortest amount of time possible. For those that already have the know how, you'll fit right in but be wary if you're just starting out in your fitness journey!

Variety is the spice of life
Both programs offer 10 different areas for patrons to participate in, with Crossfit stating: "CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy." F45 has 10 different systems that change everyday, each with their own particular focus such as "Roman" strength training and "Hollywood" aesthetic training. With F45 claiming that you'll never do the same program twice, and Crossfit providing a different training schedule everyday, you'll never be bored!

Fast and efficient
F45 prides itself on being an extremely efficient way of getting fit, as each session lasts only 45 minutes and you're out the door. Crossfit is similar, although some classes may stretch up to an hour. For those who don't have enough time in their day to head to the gym for hours on end, then these types of programs may very well be exactly what you need to get that summer body in check early on.

Pricing could be a dealbreaker
For all the opportunities that these programs provide, the cost of joining may be a significant deterrent for would be attendees. With F45 and Crossfit often costing $60 a week for their unlimited packages, the funds needed to get the most out of their systems may prove too much for some. However, if you're one to put in the maximum effort, then the money may not matter in the slightest!
