Meet Kevin

Kevin is a Springvale personal trainer. I have been working as a personal trainer for more than 15 years and have been in the fitness industry for more than 28! I bring my countless years of experience to all my clients.

During my younger years, I have worked for Nautilus (in the 80s) and was trained by Robert Draper (Nautilus National Trainer for Australia) on the Nautilus System.

I have been and still am actively involved in sports, including motor-cross, soccer, football (footy), and have been training since 1978!

Training Style & Influences

My training style depends on each client's needs and I specialise in creating time-efficient fitness programmes for the busy person. These often last less than 30 minutes, 2-3 times a week and offer clients who are too busy to waste hours at gyms to achieve excellent results without sacrificing a lot of their time.

I have had experience training and helping shape clients' lives for more than 15 years, from professionals with busy lifestyles to students to mothers. Basically if you want to get healthier and more fit, I can help you!

Why I Became a Personal Trainer

I was hooked on fitness at a young age, when I started training at 14 years of age at home - after I received my mail-order bullworker machine. Shortly after I realised I didn't want to get fat, I wanted to stay fit and live a good quality of life. My passion and enthusiasm for this has urged me to help others and share my knowledge and experience I have accumulated over the 28 years I have been in the industry.

Christine - lost more than 30 kg

Christine has lost more than 30 kg (starting at 100kg and going all the way to 64 kg).

I suppose like many people with a weight issue, I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. In March 2006, I decided that the time had come to address my poor nutrition and lack of physical activity and to finally be serious about it. This meant no more quick fix diet solutions and regular exercise.

In May 2006, I had lost approximately 10 kilos and was starting to see results. I knew, however, that as winter was approaching I would not keep to a healthy eating plan and I would look for excuses not to exercise outdoors. I made the daunting first step and went into Greenhouse Training Studio. I was impressed by the relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere, and after giving it some thought and looking at other gyms in the area, I decided that Greenhouse had what I was looking for and needed.

The staff took an interest in my goals and what I was hoping to achieve. They assisted with looking at my diet and my eating habits, and continue to do so. The staff are more than happy to answer any questions that I might have, and always offer words of encouragement and support. These words seem to come when I have needed them most, even though I would not verbalize my issues to them.

It is a refreshing feeling to go to a gym where people know you by your name and are aware of your goals and do not forget. Greenhouse Training Studio and the staff offer a comfortable, welcoming environment where I feel I belong and that I am part of.

It is now August 2006 and I am 6 kilos away from my goal weight. I know that if I had not joined Greenhouse Training Studio, I would have lapsed back into the familiar yet destructive eating habits of my past. With the help of the staff I have made the change and the changes that have been made are now lifestyle changes that I will maintain for many years to come.

To Kevin and the Team

Well I finally got the motivation to become a member at the Greenhouse Training Studio. I have known Kevin for about 7 years and for about that long he has been trying to convince me to join. I must admit I did visit often but I never joined. After much persuasion in September last year I did it and I have never looked back. At 41, I thought I was fit because I played indoor cricket a few times a week, but I guess that didn’t help my weight and fitness concerns. Even though I have only been going for 5 months, I am only a few kgs away from my goal weight. I started out at 86kgs and I am now 72kg and wow what  difference – and people do notice. I sat down with Kev and discussed my goals, my diet and what I hoped to achieve from the programme he set up for me. Being a Sales Rep out on the road 12 hours a day isn’t exactly exercise and the fast food temptations were many (on every second corner). I decided enough was enough. I made a few sacrifices and wow what a difference that makes.

My first day was doing all the measurements, (ugh) the weighing in and the heart rate/fitness test (surprised at how fit I was) but the rest was a bit shabby. So onward we went. A couple of personal training sessions with Kev (the evil taskmaster – you know you’ve worked out after a session with Kev, trust me on that one) and I was hooked. I was amazed at how far I could push myself with a little or a lot of encouragement (not just from Kevin but the rest of the staff). They are the best team ever – thanks to Renee, Belle, Ian and Anthony. Your support and your friendship have been so very pleasing. The people who work here care about you and your goals and help you all the way. Not like other places that only care what they look like, quite happy to take your money and don’t even remember your name. Every day I go to Greenhouse Training Studio, they have a smile on their face, say hello (using your name) and ask you how you are. I was pleasantly surprised.

Looking back now, I have to admit, that all the hard work and the change in my diet and exercise regime was so worth it. I feel like a different person and I look like one too. I even managed to make a few new friends, which is not always easy when you go somewhere for the first few times. But the Greenhouse Training Studio is different; it’s somewhere you look forward to going just because of all the friendly people you meet. So thanks to all the team at Greenhouse Training Studio, these changes have become lifestyle changes that will last a long time. My ex-husband who I have just re-united with after 16 years thanks you all too – he’s amazed how great I look. He’s only seen me at my top weight of 92kgs. So I will be going to this great place they call The Greenhouse Training Studio for many years to come.

Once again, I can’t thank Kevin and his fantastic team for the help, encouragement and most of all their friendship they have given me over the last few months. I will be a long time member and sing their praises all day long and twice on Sundays.
