Meet Carolyn

Carolyn is a Waurn Ponds personal trainer. Carolyn has always been an active person who has participated in various sports including; tennis and netball when she was younger.
When Carolyn had her children she made the most of the creche facilities provided by her local gym and from there she discovered her real passion for health and fitness. She then wondered if she could also share this passion with others.
Carolyn completed her qualification in fitness-Certificate III and IV as well as group exercise instructor training in 2007 at the Victorian fitness Academy (Geelong). Not long after that she completed her Les MIlls Body Bump training.
She was so excited about being offered a job at Fernwood Waurn Ponds in 2007 when they had just opened. She loves working with all the members and staff at Ferwnwood.
Carolyn is passionate about promoting strength training through personal training and body pump. She believes this training is very important to prevent injuries, improve our posture and bone density and to live a happy and healthy life.

Training Style & Influences

My focus for my training sessions are compound, strength training exercises, aiming to build muscle on my clients. My programs run for a six week period so my clients can see the progression that they are making, whether it is an increase in weights or increased repetitions. This gives them the feeling of satisfaction as they can actually see improvement. My programs are personalised so that my clients goals are always the number one focus. I bring variety to my sessions so my clients have fun and are always motivated.

    Women are the main group of people I train as I work at Fernwood. I focus a lot on back work and also stretching through their chests to help with their posture and building their backs strong to prevent any injuries that may occur in future. I work the leg muscles through squats and lunges because this is a bigger muscle and more energy is used. Some clients have knee problems so I have a particular program suited for them.

Why I Became a Personal Trainer

I became a personal trainer to help people achieve the most that they can for themselves both physically and mentally. I love the feeling exercise has on the body and the mind and I thought that it would be great to try and teach other people.
