Meet Angela

Angela is a Waurn Ponds personal trainer. Even as a child Angela has always been very active and athletic being involved in many sports and outdoor activities. This included little athletics, dancing, netball, basketball, karate and many more.
In the early 80's she started Aerobic classes, where she realised back then that the Fitness Industry is where she wanted to be. Angela has proven how passionate and committed she is with over 30 years experience in the industry. She completed a gym and aerobic Instructors course in the 80's at the Footscray Institute and became a Manager of a gym in a council run centre as well a Aerobic coordinator. Angela has gained a lot of knowledge and skills through her experience in the industry and she's realised that its not all about your qualifications that make you successful and it is in fact more about your personality and experience.
After having three children, Angela had some time away from working in the fitness industry and when she decided to return to work she thought about another field but she was drawn back to what she loved most. She loves the variety of training areas in the gym and in 2007 she decided to give personal training ago so she completed certificate IV in Fitness. Angela enjoys running group fitness classes.
In the past thirty years that Angela has been in the industry she has seen many changes, gained a lot of knowledge and met a lot of amazing people. She hopes to be involved for a few more years because she truly loves what she does.

Training Style & Influences

As I have generally trained more mature women I concentrate a lot on core strength and balance in my training. Having had three children myself helps me understand how these women feel and what areas they need to work on. I like using fitballs for balance exercises and really push the need to do weight 2 to 3 times per week. I bring variety to my sessions so my clients are motivated and enjoy training.

    I have run outdoor group fitness classes since 2008 and to see my clients improve in cardio fitness and strength is so important to me. My personal training clients at Fernwood have improved their strength and fitness which is truly rewarding. I am very particular on their technique and always promote good core strength as this is vital to help them achieve their goals.

Why I Became a Personal Trainer

I became a trainer because as a person I really like helping others in every way but especially to achieve their goals. I want to help other women improve their strength especially core and pelvic floor. I am particularly driven on helping them achieve a better posture, balance and control of their bodies. I wanted to help educate others on the importance of healthy balance in life with exercise, diet, social and mental well being. By being a personal trainer I can help others to achieve their goals and that is really what I'm about; I listen and care about my clients and try to encourage and motivate them as much as possible
