At Fernwood Women’s gym Salisbury, we know that one of the best forms of exercise that women can do is strength training. We don’t fuss around and call it by other names – because we know that strong women are typically leaner and healthier.

But not all strength training is equal. Rather than use other cheap hydraulic equipment – where you plateau after a short while – Fernwood Women’s gym Salisbury offers easy to use machines which allow you to progress.

Progression to heavier weights is an essential component of strength training. If you just do more of the same weights without increasing the weight, you are training for endurance, not strength, and after a while you won’t get the results you want.

Cardio Area/Theatre

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced exerciser, cardio training at Fernwood Women’s gym Salisbury will give you a magical rush of feel-good endorphins in the process. But like any exercise, the secret is to go slowly. Get to a stage where you can walk briskly for half an hour, then spend a couple of sessions getting used to our treadmills, steppers, cross trainers, bikes, rowers and more.

You might start at a low intensity for two to five minutes, a higher intensity for two, then repeat that four or five times. Gradually increase your training time and shorten recovery periods. Before you know it, you’ll be going non-stop for 10 minutes. Aim to do cardio three times a week, but be guided by how you feel.

Free-Weights Area

The weight machines at Fernwood Women’s gym Salisbury are a great place to start out and allow you to progress, but after a while, using ‘free-weights’ (dumbbells and barbells) will take your workout to the next level. To get the best results in the shortest amount of time, the more muscles you engage in the one exercise, the better. With many free-weight exercises, you engage your stomach and back muscles too – so you can say goodbye to sit-ups!

Aerobics Studio

Our Salisbury spin cycle classes let you control your efforts, where the intensity is set to motivating music close to your workout heart rate, 120 to 140 B.P.M. We play all the popular music to help you exercise longer and more enthusiastically.

Abs & Stretch Area

Warm-ups and cool-downs at our Salisbury Women’s gym are both vital if you want to make the most of your workout, increase flexibility and avoid any pulls and tears to muscles and ligaments. Warm-up for 10-15 minutes. The length of your cool-down will depend on how long you’ve been exercising and should include stretching to help your muscles and tendons relax, and prevent stiffness later.

The sessions are 30 minutes, one-on-one, with a strength training focus that will give you an all-over workout. Your workout sessions are tailored to your specific needs and fitness goals.

At Fernwood, you will only work with qualified Salisbury personal trainers, so you’ll be safe in their hands. You’ll also find that they are a great bunch of women. Plus, at the end of your session, you’ll get a shoulder and neck massage – now that’s having your Salisbury personal trainer work for you!

The program teaches women valuable skills to effectively take control of their own healthy eating plan through a supportive and thorough education program. The program shows participants how to enjoy five delicious meals each day, kick starting the metabolism and prevent hunger, while achieving weight loss.

The Slimplicity program has seen thousands of women successfully lose weight and achieve their long term weight goals by coaching women on how to achieve healthy and balanced lifestyle.
