Meet Erin

Erin is a Melbourne personal trainer. Erin's love of staying active began at an early age growing up on her family farm in south western Victoria. She has always been an outdoor girl and it was here where Erin first discovered her love of sport, a love that has followed her throughout life. From netball and tennis to bike riding and cross-country running, Erin has always been active, which is the way she intends to stay.

After finishing high-school, Erin's love of health and helping people led her to complete a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University. Erin then headed to Adelaide where she worked as an Orthotist for two and a half years at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Here she gained valuable experience working with diabetes and preventable diseases and her special interest, foot complications, especially the diabetic foot and sports injuries. After working in the hospital environment for more than 2 years, she had a change of perspective and wanted to help people at the cause before they conformed to these dire states.

Erin returned to Melbourne where she become a Master Trainer qualified at the Australian Institute of Fitness. Erin has been exposed to the many health issues and associated problems prominent in today's society which are preventable and she wanted to join the fight to eradicate them. Erin has a special interest in reducing the risk of Type 2 Diabetes in today’s population, as she has seen the terrible effect this can have on people’s health and lifestyle.

Training Style & Influences

I like to look at the overall body and build it up together as a whole. In my sessions I run cardio programs with strength training, balance, flexibility and any rehabilitation work to eliminate body inefficiencies. In my sessions we will work hard, have a laugh and have fun!

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Fitness - Gym Instructor
  • Certificate IV in Fitness - Personal Trainer
  • Level 2 First Aid
  • Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (La Trobe University)

    Diabetes – I’ve always wanted to help in the fight against Diabetes. I have a background working with my clients in the hospital industry with Diabetes and look to help people before they get there through fitness.

    Rehab – I am used to looking at people's biomechanics because of my background in Prosthetics and Orthoticsat. I can help alter them through orthotic and strengthening in my training programs. I’ve helped many clients with knee trouble helping them to strengthen the surrounding muscles to reduce overall pain.

Why I Became a Personal Trainer

I always enjoyed sports and being active. Working in the public hospital system for more than 4 years and seeing all the preventable disease which could be prevented through exercise and fitness, led me to change my career and try to help solve the problem before it gets to that state. I love interacting with people and helping them reach their goals through my knowledge.
